The SIUF (China Shenzhen International Brand Underwear Fair) has established itself as one of the most influential professional lingerie exhibitions in the world. This fair is dedicated to showcasing the latest innovations in products, technologies, trends, and applications within the lingerie industry. Its mission is to create a comprehensive platform for professional exchanges that not only facilitates business negotiations but also fosters international collaborations and highlights brand presentations for lingerie manufacturers and the entire supply chain.

In a revealing interview, the exhibition’s founder, Zhang Fengwei, who serves as the Executive Vice President and Secretary General of the Shenzhen Underwear Industry Association, shared insights into the remarkable evolution of the exhibition over its 20-year history, emphasizing its significant impact on the lingerie sector both domestically and internationally.

How has the SIUF become one of the most important lingerie exhibitions in the world?

The SIUF (Shenzhen International Lingerie Fair) has gradually evolved over the past 20 years to become one of the most influential lingerie exhibitions globally. This event is not only a premier platform for both international and domestic lingerie brands but is also supported by the Ministry of Commerce and recognized as one of Shenzhen’s top ten brand exhibitions.

Today, the SIUF spans an area of 100,000 square meters, bringing together over 1,500 national and international brands, such as AÍMER, Embry Form, Mani Form and COSMO LADY. It attracts professional clients from many countries, including the United States and France, as well as regions like Hong Kong and Taiwan, and more than 20 provinces in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangdong.

According to a survey conducted after the 19th edition of the fair in 2024, the event generated nearly 20 billion yuan in direct and indirect revenue, with an exhibitor satisfaction rate of 95%. Additionally, 90% of exhibitors expressed their desire to participate in the next edition, reflecting the growing influence and recognition of the fair within the industry.

At the same time, the China Lingerie Culture Week aims to represent both Chinese and global culture, while adapting to contemporary developments. During this week, the association organizes several events, including the International Creative Lingerie Design Competition, the Homewear Design Competition, and the SIUF International Supermodel Lingerie Competition. These initiatives seek to identify and promote design talents in lingerie, while enhancing the quality of professionals in the sector.

In 2014, the Shenzhen Lingerie Industry Association also founded the «Heart of Lingerie» Foundation, committed to caring for women’s health and supporting breast cancer patients. This foundation promotes a philanthropic vision centered on taking care of women’s health and moving forward together. It has established a network based on transparent philanthropic actions, open partnerships, and innovative practices, while exploring innovative contributions from companies and citizens in the field of social responsibility, aimed at fostering the sustainable development of health initiatives for women. The SIUF has not only achieved significant commercial success but has also played an essential role in cultural exchanges, talent development, and social responsibility, making it an indispensable platform for the global lingerie industry.

Over time, the fashion industry in China has undergone a significant transformation, shifting from imitation to innovation and evolving from low-cost production to the creation of high-end brands. In response to this restructuring trend, the SIUF plans to adopt several adjustment strategies to maintain its influence in the industry and promote the growth of the sector. First, the exhibition will enhance its internationalization by attracting more international brands and buyers, thereby increasing its global impact and paving the way for the internationalization of Chinese lingerie brands.

Secondly, the promotion of sustainable fashion will become a central focus. The exhibition will highlight the use of eco-friendly materials and responsible production methods by creating dedicated zones for showcasing sustainable lingerie products and technologies, in response to the growing consumer emphasis on environmental concerns.

Additionally, the integration of technological innovations will be a priority. By leveraging emerging technologies such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and artificial intelligence (AI), the exhibition will enhance the visitor experience while showcasing high-tech lingerie products, such as smart clothing and functional fabrics, to lead technological innovation in the sector.
