Bpifrance: Activity Report 2024

On February 13, 2025, Nicolas Dufourcq, General Director of Bpifrance, presented the activity report for the year 2024, characterized by significant engagement in supporting the French economy.

The year 2024 confirms the growing momentum of actions in favor of ecological transition, innovation, and entrepreneurship. With €60 billion injected into the economy and estimated net results of €896 million, Bpifrance continues to play a central role in the development and transformation of French businesses. This report highlights a clear ambition: to address the challenges of tomorrow while supporting a more sustainable and inclusive economy.

In the midst of an ecological transition

In 2024, nearly 7 billion euros were mobilized to support companies in their Ecological and Energy Transition (TEE) projects, thereby enhancing their resilience to climate change. This initiative allowed 5,000 leaders to benefit from personalized one-hour consultations aimed at assessing their company’s climate maturity, as part of an unprecedented nationwide campaign. The year 2024 was also marked by massive investments in the industry, with 9 billion euros injected to support the transformation and growth of French industrialists, addressing the challenges of competitiveness and transition.

Development of Capital and Investment Funds

In 2024, an amount of 1.8 billion euros was invested in 169 companies, demonstrating a solid dynamic in the Capital Development sector. At the same time, portfolio rotation continued with divestitures reaching 1.2 billion euros, slightly above the results of 2023. The year 2024 was also marked by record subscriptions for Fund of Funds, with activity experiencing a historic year. Indeed, 77 subscriptions were completed, representing a total of 1.7 billion euros, including 57 new investments and 20 reinvestments.

Acceleration of Business Creation and Support

In 2024, a total of 162,500 project leaders were supported, contributing to the creation of 86,000 new businesses. Additionally, the « Entrepreneuriat Quartiers 2030 » program assisted 2,050 entrepreneurs from Priority Urban Areas (Quartiers Prioritaires de la Ville, QPV), emphasizing the commitment to inclusion and local economic development. Bpifrance also strengthened its role as the leading consulting firm for SMEs. More than 1,000 new companies joined acceleration programs, and there was a 43% increase in consulting missions, with 8,660 new missions completed during the year.

Support for Innovation and Export

Following the massive deployment of France 2030 in 2023, the year 2024 continued strong support for innovation, with €5 billion allocated to over 5,500 companies. In addition, more than €570 million was invested in innovative projects, further reinforcing the commitment to technological development and research. Regarding export and climate, exporting companies benefited from a total of €22 billion in commitments, partly through mechanisms such as the Industry Prospecting Insurance (Assurance Prospection Industrie), whose utilization grew by 2.3 times in one year, highlighting the growing importance of exports in the context of ecological transition. Finally, guarantees increased by 4%, enabling €9 billion in loans or investments to be guaranteed in 2024, benefiting 65,750 companies, demonstrating continued support for economic growth.

在出口方面，Bpifrance为出口企业提供了220亿欧元的承诺资金，部分得益于“工业勘探保险”（Assurance Prospection Industrie）等机制的支持，其使用率在一年内增长了2.3倍，凸显了在生态转型背景下出口的重要性。此外，Bpifrance的担保业务也实现了4%的增长，全年共担保了90亿欧元的贷款或投资，支持了65,750家企业，显示出对经济增长的持续支持。
